Playing Dr Frankenstein... the destination

It's the end of the road and finishing up with mashups. According to Wiki "In web development, a mashup is a web page or application that combines data or functionality from two or more external sources to create a new service." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashup_(web_application_hybrid))

So like WhitePages, these web pages or applications borrow or link popular sources, for example bkkeeper (Twitter), BookTour, Walkable and CrimeReports (Google maps), and LibWorm (RSS). Flickr is also a popular one (Visual Headlines, Interestingness, and a fave Flickr Memari).

Though the above tend to be US-orientated, there's a good place for Aussie mashups: last last year there was a competition that can be seen at http://mashupaustralia.org/.

IMHO i found Let Me Google That for You completely useless. But thats just me!

As for searches for other mashups i did find the following:
* http://www.webmashup.com/ is a portal to mashups (mainly USA)
* http://www.mashupawards.com/ is like mashup Australia, with lots of Twitter-focus ones
* http://coffeeseeker.com/ is a good one for coffee lovers in the US
* http://www.arqueotur.org/ is by University of Barcelona and Spainsh Tourism that uses Google maps for archaeological and historical sites, museums, and events/ festivals in certain countries.
* http://mashuparchaeology.humanities.manchester.ac.uk/ is part of the University of Manchester that uses RSS feeds on "museum archaeology and archaeological heritage" content
* http://rumsey.geogarage.com/ also uses Google maps and earth layered with historical maps (especially in regards to cool factor)

Not sure if the last part is make a mashup or use a certain site to make one... so i'll pass on the challenge.

SO... that's all folks. It's the end of the trip and now its evaulation form time (and back to work)...
